Renowned academic and author Dr. Asaf Romirowsky joined WIBC Morning Host Tony Katz to lend his expertise on an issue that Tony has addressed repeatedly – the anti-Israel movement known as Boycott, Divestment, and Sactions, or BDS.
BDS is infecting universities all over the United States – including the University of Indianapolis – and is no longer isolated to progressive cells like California. And while some students are willing to rally to this pro-Palestine faction, Dr. Romirowsky says it's liberal professors driven by peer pressure who are selling BDS as the moral standard:
Israel today has become a litmus test for most academics. Academia tends to be to the left, and Israel has become a litmus test for what it means to be a good liberal academic. There is this ongoing test – so to speak – where this is very pervasive. This is why you're seeing academic associations calling for their peers to support the idea of boycotting [Israel].
You're seeing from peers around the country saying 'well, BDS is the moral, just responsibility of myself as an academic, [so I'll] to take this on.'
